SINKs (single income, no kids) and DINKs (double income, no kids) buyers represented 70% of home buyers in 2023, according to Lautz at the National Association of Realtors (NAR). Census Bureau data shows that SINKs own 20.3 million homes in the U.S., compared to 14.9 million homes owned by DINKs.
Lautz also notes that this trend may shift the type of homes buyers shop for, placing higher demand for smaller homes.
